Why Every Country is rushing buy F-35 fighter jets

European countries have joined a coalition of F-35 Joint Strike Fighters buyers at a rapid pace, surprising even the strongest advocates of the fifth-generation aircraft. Switzerland, Finland, and Germany are a few of the European countries that have joined the coalition of fifth-generation allies, including the UK, Denmark, Belgium, Poland, and Italy. As these countries expand their F-35 fleet, they enable large-scale airpower to support air supremacy missions, maintain logistics and supply chains, and share targeting and threat information. The F-35 has unique features like the Multi-Function Data Link (MADL), enabling secure and high-speed data transmission between F-35s, regardless of country. The F-35 coalition brings unprecedented tactical implications, such as the ability to share target data, conduct Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR), and optimise attack operations across a wide range of operations. With software upgrades, weapons systems interface enhancements, new computing, and the ability to accommodate new weapons, the Pentagon intends to fly the F-35 until the 2070s through continuous modernisation programs.
